Asher's first big knot and it's smack dab on his forehead. He fell when I picked him up from school today. Poor baby :(
I really hope it doesn't turn black and blue.
It's looking a little better since I was able to apply a cool pack to it. He hated that.

Elmo Sings - la la la, Elmo Laughs - ha ha ha
I really enjoyed my company while driving to work today. :)
Lately, we have been reading the book, "So Big" by Elmo. In the book, Elmo reaches way up high, way down low, sings, laughs, says mama and dada, plays peek-a-boo, etc. Asher has really gotten into imitating Elmo in this book and has such a fun time doing it! He's so proud of himself when he gets it right.
He was in such a talking mood this morning, so I figured I'd ask him to do some of the things in the book. Here's a cute video.
He has also started jabbering "Mama, Daddy, Mama, Daddy" for no reason at all. I guess he just loves his Mama and Daddy. :) He has mastered these two words (among others).

9/11 Ten Years Later
Ten years ago today, I remember driving from my speech class to my history class at Hinds when I heard the news on the radio about the north tower of the World Trade Center being hit by an airplane. Just like everyone else, I was in disbelief. How devastating. I remember getting to my history class and it was all anyone could talk about. Our teacher discussed it with us for the first half of the class. I remember watching the news just about all day every day that week.... grieving for the families who couldn't find their loved ones.
It's ten years later, and today was also quite emotional. Watching the specials on tv about Flight 93, the towers, and the Pentagon really makes me sad... especially now that I have a family of my own. I couldn't imagine what these widows were/are going through with small children. How could anyone explain to their child that their daddy isn't coming home? I hope I never have to do that.
Here is a picture of the dancing.

We spent our morning at Fannin United Methodist Church where my father-in-law is the music director. This is a really small country church, but one of the most hospitable churches I've ever attended. Everyone makes a point to say hello and actually get to know you.

Robbie's dad called him Friday night and asked if he would come share his testimony in the service Sunday morning since the preacher was out sick. Of course he would! He already had a speech planned because he shared a similar story at the Cursillo reunion just a few months ago. Who knew Robbie could preach a sermon?! He did an amazing job today. Also on Sunday morning's line-up was a solo sung by Faith Harris, "Temporary Home". Yet again, another Harris did an awesome job. I was lucky enough to catch her practicing just before the service this morning. Asher thought he'd do a little dance number on the alter while she sang. I couldn't get his cute moves on video, but it was hilarious (and sooo cute)! He's an attention stealer, for sure.

Today one of my worst fears came true. Asher locked himself in the truck. Luckily, we were at home and the weather was pleasant, which means we didn't really have to freak out over a heat stroke. Let me back up a little and explain what he was doing in the truck. For a while now, Asher has had an obsession over driving. Anything that has a steering wheel has his full attention. Sometimes we let him sit in the drivers seat - with the vehicle off, of couse - and play around with all the gadgets. Apparently, he clicked the "lock" button on Robbie's keys, but I didn't know it. I shut the drivers side door so I could get to the back passenger door, try to open that door only to find that its LOCKED! *GASP* What in the world do we do now?? We dont have a spare key. Robbie and I try to get Asher to click the unlcok button on the key, then try to get him to manually unlock the door, pull on the door handle, try opening the window from the back of the truck....nothing is working. Asher thinks its all a funny game. We're both trying to keep our cool so he doesn't pick up on our tension and start getting upset. It works for about 5 minutes, and then he figures out that he is stuck in there. I felt horrible.
A couple of minutes pass with no luck of unlocking the truck, so I call a locksmith. I won't go into how unprofessional they were, but once they found out a child was in the truck they told me to call the fire department. I handed the phone to Robbie because I could barely keep my cool at this point. He calls 911 and we wait. It feels like 10 minutes go by (when it was probably only 3-5 minutes) and a policeman shows up in our driveway. The firetruck showed up shortly after. This big red truck immediately got Asher's attention. He forgot that he was trapped and all of a sudden was very interested in what these people were doing outside the window. They did open the door with a slim jim device within a couple of minutes...thank you Mr.and Ms. Fireman!
Of course all of this commotion alerted our neighbors to all come outside and check on us...how embarassing!! Who knew 15 people lived in our cul-de-sac?
Lesson learned....Don't let Asher play in the truck with the keys in his hand. And GET A SPARE KEY!
