Daycare

Well, it happened - Asher's first day of daycare was yesterday.  After six waiting lists and nine months of waiting for a spot to open, Ridgecrest Baptist Church finally called me last month to tell me they have room for Asher beginning June 1.  I've always thought daycare would be a good idea for children, and I still do, but it's always hard to send your own child there!  I just know he won't get the same attention he's been getting with his parents, grandparents, and babysitter.

So, yesterday I took Asher to RBC for his first day.  I was very positive going in.  Once I got there, I got very nervous for him and me!  We had a substitute teacher in Asher's room, which made me feel very uneasy because she didn't really know how to direct us.  I had no clue what I was doing since I've never been in that atmosphere with him before.  So I put him down in a bouncy seat next to another playful baby.  He seemed fine in that seat.  I couldn't look at him much longer...he was staring at me!  My heart melted, and I knew I had to get out of there fast before he saw me cry.  I really wanted to hold it together for him, which I did, but I did cry all the way to work.  Turns out he had a great day.  I got his daily report card and noticed he pretty much slept most of the day.  He took FOUR naps!  Which is unusual for him.  They noted that he was happy most of the day but fussy at times...which was fine with me!  He has some days where he's fussy most of the day.  I was also worried about his teething.  The day before daycare, he was a mad baby all day because he was in pain.  The teachers said he didn't give them any problems!

I was so emotional about the whole situation yesterday that I told Robbie he had to take Asher the next day because I didn't think I could go through that again.  I braved up, though, and dropped him off again today.  It was a much better day!  The regular teacher was there this morning and seemed to have everything under control.  I felt good leaving him there.  He was in such a good mood!  I still can't wait to go pick him up and hold him all night!

I don't think I could take Em to daycare! I usually call my mom at least 3 times a day to see what they are doing. I don't think a daycare would let me do that! Bless your heart! I'm glad the second day went better.
